| Detailed Itinerary : |
Day 01: Arrival Delhi Greeted by India Travel Centre representative at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Relax and unwind. Day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 02: Delhi Today you will visit the many fascinating highlights of Old & New Delhi: Old Delhi - a sightseeing tour of Old Delhi which will entail visiting the Raj Ghat he memorial site where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated and Jama Masjid - the largest mosque in India. New Delhi- an extensive sightseeing tour of New Delhi which will include a visit to the emperor Humayun's Tomb, the Qutub Minar, a drive along the ceremonial avenue– Rajpath past the imposing India Gate, Parliament House,the President's Residence and ending with a drive through the Diplomatic Enclave. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 03: Delhi - Mandawa (250kms/5hrs) Drive to Mandawa, often called the open air art gallery of Rajasthan. The region is famous for its high quality frescoes. Check into your hotel where you can unwind. Day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 04: Mandawa - Jaipur (167kms/4hrs) After breakfast take a walking tour of the painted 'havelis' of some of the leading business families of the country. The Chowkhani Haveli, Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli, Lakshminarayan Ladia Haveli, Mohahanlal Saraf Haveli and Bhagchandika Haveli are of special interest. Later drive to Jaipur- the fabled "pink city" of the desert named after Jai Singh, the former Maharaja of Jaipur. Check into your hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 05: Jaipur Proceed for an excursion to the Amber Fort on the outskirts of Jaipur. Enjoy a royal Elephant ride* as you climb up to the fort. Amber is the classic romantic Rajasthani fort palace. Later go on a sightseeing tour of Jaipur covering: The City Palace, Jantar Mantar and the Hawa Mahal.Visit a rug factory and see the ladies at their intricate work or a gem factory and see the gem cutting and polishing process. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 06: Jaipur - Agra (232kms/5hrs) Today drive to the Taj Mahal, Agra and enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri- a perfectly preserved red sandstone "ghost town" which was the estranged capital of Mughal Emperor Akbar, built in 1569 and deserted when its water supply failed. Transfer to your hotel on arrival in Agra. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 07: Agra After breakfast visit the magnificent Taj Mahal- one of the seven wonders of the world and surely the most extravagant expression of love ever created. 20,000 men labored for over 17 years to build this memorial to Shah Jahan's beloved wife. Also visit the Red fort - the rusty and majestic red-sandstone fort of Agra stands on the banks of the river Yamuna the construction of which was started by Emperor Akbar in 1566. Evening: free to explore the rich handicrafts of Agra. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 08: Agra - Jhansi (By train - Depart) Transfer to the railway station to board your train to Jhansi. On arrival at Jhansi, drive to Orchha and transfer to your hotel. Later take a tour of this historical site which has some magnificent temples and monuments. Some of the palaces were decorated with painted murals which represent the finest flowering of the Bundela school of painting. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 09: Orchha - Khajuraho(180kms/4hrs drive) After breakfast drive to Khajuraho. Built within a short span of a hundred years by the Chandela Rajputs, the 10th century temples lay forgotten until they were discovered in the present century. Khajuraho has achieved fame for the sensual appeal of its erotic sculptures. Arrive at Khajuraho and transfer to your hotel. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Khajuraho After breakfast explore the Western and Eastern temples of Khajuraho while your guide explains the intricate meaning and legends behind each sculpture. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 11: Khajuraho - Varanasi (By flight) In the afternoon board the flight to Varanasi, said to be the India's most sacred city situated on the western banks of the holy river Ganges. As a place for devotion and worship, with hundreds of temples dotting the city, sunrise on the river front as seen from a boat can be a spiritually uplifting sight. Check-in to your hotel. In the evening attend the "Aarti" ceremony on the Ghats. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 12: Varanasi Take a boat cruise on the river Ganges to observe the way of life of the pilgrims by the Ghats. Later take an excursion to Sarnath which is one of Buddhism's major centers in India. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 13: Varanasi - Delhi (By flight) Morning at leisure. In the afternoon transfer to airport to board your flight for Delhi. Arrive in Delhi and transfer to your hotel. You could spend the rest of the day at leisure or go shopping in Delhi. Night stay at Delhi.
Day 14: Departure Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
